A garage attached to a single- family home was destroyed but no one was injured during a second- alarm fire in Wolfeboro today. The Wolfeboro Fire- Rescue Department was alerted to a blaze on Eagle Trace at 0134. First-arriving units found heavy fire showing from the garage. All residents were out of the building. Fire crews were able to confine the fire damage to the garage and ell. The rest of the home suffered smoke damage. “We were able to confirm quickly that the residents were out and safe,” said Wolfeboro Fire- Rescue Deputy Chief Tom Zotti. ” Then it became a matter of trying to keep the fire out of the main part of the home. All the firefighters on the scene deserve a lot of credit for limiting the fire damage to the garage area.”

The fire was declared under control at 0320. The cause of the blaze remains under investigation by the Wolfeboro Fire- Rescue Department but is believed to be accidental. Wolfeboro Fire- Rescue was assisted at the scene by Tuftonboro Fire- Rescue, Ossipee Corner Fire- Rescue, Alton Fire- Rescue, West Ossipee Fire- Rescue, Lakeside Ambulance, and the Wolfeboro Police Department.
