Sunday, October 21st, 2007

On September 22, 2007 Firefighter/ EMT Rob Martel left Wolfeboro Fire- Rescue for Concord Fire Department. Rob came to Wolfeboro in October 2003 from Epsom, NH as a Career Firefighter with an associates degree in Fire Science from NHCTC Laconia and 10 years experience as a call firefighter with Epsom Fire Department.

During Rob’s employment with Wolfeboro he became a certified EMT basic, Fire Inspector I, Driver/ Operator of all Apparatus with fire pumps, Rapid Intervention Team(RIT) member and a Hazardous Materials Decontamination Technician. Rob also moved to Wolfeboro, bought a house where he and his wife, Amy, started their family.

In Rob’s four years of on the job experience he has learned road locations, where dependable water supplies are located and how seasonal conditions change them as well as general knowledge of the lakes and islands. Rob was a member of groups 2 and 3 and in the absences of the groups Lieutenant was in charge of the group as well as the initial incident commander of emergencies. His experience and knowledge will be greatly missed.

Rob stated, “I will miss my fellow firefighters here in Wolfeboro, but I have always hoped to work for Concord Fire where i will have more career opportunities, training and advancement and the starting pay is not bad either. It’s more than I’m making now.”

The Local wishes Rob and his family the best for the future, with the new job and move to the Concord area.
