No Injuries, Building Saved During A Fourth Alarm Fire In Wolfeboro

October 30, 2007- (Group 2) No one was injured and a five-unit apartment building was saved during a fourth alarm fire. The Wolfeboro Fire- Rescue Department was alerted to the fire at 1644 hrs at 116 South Main Street. Car 1, Ladder 1, and Engine 1 were on the initial response and arrived on scene to find heavy fire and smoke showing from the back of the building. An aggressive interior attack held fire damage to two apartments with smoke and water damage to others. A fourth alarm was requested at 1754 hrs. The fire was declared under control at 2005 hrs. The cause of the blaze is under investigation by the Wolfeboro Fire- Rescue Department. Wolfeboro Fire- Rescue was assisted at the scene by approximately 50 firefighters from Tuftonboro, Ossipee Corner, Center Ossipee, West Ossipee, Wakefield, Alton, and New Durham. Lakeside Ambulance, the Wolfeboro Police Department, Municipal Electric Department, Wolfeboro Water Department and the American Red Cross also helped at the scene. Some of the tenants were assisted by the Red Cross.
